Requirements

Information about the requirements for getting the best out of our system.

Camera

These are the camera requirements for using our system:

Resolution

Analysis accepts a large range of resolutions, but we optimize for 1080p. Keep in mind that

  1. Low resolution video will lack the detail needed for accurate detections on the far side of the court
  2. Too high resolution will lead to excessive video download and it will not improve resolution as we downscale video for efficiency reasons.

FPS

Analysis accepts 15-120FPS, but use 30 FPS for best results. Parts of the pipeline works best with constant framerate, but variable framerate can also yield good results as long as the variability in timestamps between frames isnt too large (less than 25% deviation).

Video hosting and accessability

Video needs to have HTTP range support. To avoid unnecessary download, the mov-object should be at the start of the file (faststart)

Camera angle

The camera should cover as much of the court as possible and be mounted above the court along the short side.

Video properties which yield best results

  • 1080p
  • 30 FPS constant framerate
  • HTTP range request support
  • Faststart
  • GOP around 2-4s
